Norkent was developed in the prairies at an Agriculture Canada Research Station in Manitoba, and was released in 1974. It is renowned for both cold tolerance (hardy to zone 2b!) and taste.

Fruit: Norkent is a crisp and juicy Gala-style apple that is excellent for fresh-eating as well as cooking.

Disease resistance: Moderate resistance to fire blight.

Parentage: Haralson x Rescue. Haralson is a cross between Malinda & Wealthy; Rescue is a seedling from an open-pollinated Blushed Calville.

Rootstock: EMLA 106.
